2020 (+£6,275 at +25%) and 2021 (+£6,285 at +23%) were always going to be tricky years to follow - especially once variance struck us down at the start of the Super League season.

We had one winner from our opening 15 tips, but the team kept their cool and finished the season strongly.

By the time the dust had settled on the World Cup we had accumulated +£2,815 in profit (to £50 bets) at +12%, cementing an eighth consecutive winning season.

That's in line with our lifetime PnL of +£30,054 at +12%, but below our three-year PnL of +£15,374 at +20%.

Rugby League - 2022 Season Review

Even after the opening run of bad luck, our key markets still performed well.

The team had below average NRL & Super League seasons, but absolutely smashed rep footy all year long, from the Maori's winning the pre-season All-Stars for us as underdogs, right through to the World Cup final.

To get a more reliable data set we've looked back over the last three seasons.

Rugby League - Last Three Seasons

And you can see this paints a much clearer picture of how the mini-blips and losing runs balance against the general trend of consistent & relentless profits.

This table highlights where we have been making our profits. The 'Outright' (above) and 'ESL' (Super League - below) numbers are  boosted given we landed Man of Steel winners at 40/1 and 25/1.

Looking at our main markets; Handicap, Totals, Money Line (Match Winner) you can see really solid and consistent performance on markets with very high liquidity.

Intuitively, 25/1 and 40/1 winners would skew results, but digging deeper reveals that profits have come across the board on Super League.

Elite Rugby: Rugby League 2021 Season Review

Our first Rugby tips were published in 2011. After a spectacular start (+24% ROI from 2011 to 2013), the Elite Rugby service was launched in 2014.

We started tipping 'average' prices rather than market best price. After a few years of finding their feet the team have continued to improve and impress with their performance.

From 2016 to 2019 the team made over £10,000 profit at 7% ROI (to £50 bets).

But the last two years have been even more spectacular.

Since the start of 2020 the team have made over £9,000 profit at 12% ROI (to £50 bets).

Remember that these are to average, 'advised' prices.

If you'd been able to take best price for the last two years you'd have made over £12,000 profit at 17% ROI (at £50 bets).

Today we focus on Rugby League.

Super League in 2021 returned a scarcely believable return of +52% ROI (from 67 bets).

That number was nicely boosted by Sam Tomkins winning the Man of Steel award for us at 25/1. He made it back to back winners of the award for us, after we landed McShane at 40/1 in 2020.

Even ignoring these big priced winners, the week to week performance was simply stunning.

Handicap tips were +23%, Total Points +62%, Match Winner tips +60%.

It was an amazing year!

The NRL had a turbulent year, with rule changes and lockdown restrictions, and the team were also able to take advantage there.

NRL markets are more solid & highly liquid so returns will be less spectacular, but the season ending +8% on all bets is a performance the team are rightly proud of.

The Rugby League team signed off the 2021 season with a total profit of £5,810 from 226 bets at +22% ROI (to £50 bets).

It was no flash in the pan either, as their return from season 2020 was +25% !

Rugby World Cup 2019

The eagerly awaited Rugby World Cup heads to Japan and the hosts kick off the competition as 40pt favourites - a far cry from their infamous 'Miracle of Brighton' victory over South Africa.

We were on them as 42pt underdogs that day but even we couldn't have predicted those remarkable scenes.
