Australian Open Tennis Results

Another strike in the Women's Oz Open for our Tennis tipster, who landed Azarenka at 6/1 a few years ago too.

The draw fell open for Nishikori but - much like Nadal in the final - he couldn't prevail in the deciding 5th set. Tsonga made smooth progress to the QF and was well backed to defeat Wawrinka, but ultimately limped out of the tournament with a no-show.

Mens

Kei Nishikori E/W for the Australian Open at 33/1: Lost (to eventual winner)
Jo-Wilifred Tsonga to win 2nd Quarter at 7/1: Lost (QF)

Women's

2pts Serena Williams to win Outright at 16/5: WON
Monica Puig to win 2nd Quarter at 18/1: Lost
Dominika Cibukova to win 4th Quarter at 9/1: Lost

Yaroslava Shvedova to beat Irina-Camelia Begu at 1/1: 1-2
Daria Kasatkina to win 2-0 (vs Peng) at 9/10: 0-2
Coco Vandeweghe to beat Roberta Vinci 2-1 at 10/3: 2-0

Kyle Edmund to beat Pablo Carreno-Busta at 4/5: 0-3
Dolgopolov +5.5 Games (vs Monfils) at 11/10: 19-13
Dania Gavrilova to beat Ana Konjuh at 21/20: WON, 2-1
Sorana Cirstea +3.5 Games (vs Riske) at 1/1: WON, 13-8

Rafael Nadal to beat Roger Federer at 4/5: 2-3

Nadal was a break up in the 5th set but Federer cemented his status as one of the most popular tennis players of our generation with an emotional victory.

Cheltenham Racing Results

The Flyer got stuck in to the nine race bonanza at Cheltenham yesterday. How poignant that his big winner of the day was the ill-fated Many Clouds - who has surely stitched his name into the rich tapestry of heroes of the National Hunt game.

Cheltenham
12.35: Champers On Ice 1pt ew at 10/1: unplaced SP 5/1
1.10: Shantou Flyer 1pt ew at 13/2: 4th SP 6/1
1.45: Uxizandre 1pt win at 20/1: 2nd SP 12/1
2.15: Many Clouds 1pt ew at 13/2: WON, SP 8/1
2.50: Any Currency 1pt ew at 15/2: 3rd SP 14/1
3.25: Topofthegame 1pt ew at 6/1: 4th SP 11/2
4.00: West Approach 1pt ew at 16/1: 3rd SP 14/1
4.35: Max Do Brazil 1pt ew at 12/1: unplaced SP 9/2

Total stake = 15pts, Total Return 21.5pts

It was a good day but one that was so nearly so much more. We had two horses just one place from the money, Uxizandre was a runner up at a monster price - and even emphatically beating the market on Champers on Ice (10s in to 5s) and Max Do Brazil (12s in to 9/2) didn't bring any returns.
